The Adult Social Services Unit consists of a unit manager, three deputy unit managers, and four coordinators with whom you will closely collaborate.

We provide services for individuals with mental disabilities, addiction, co-occurring disorders, and economic and housing-related issues.

Our services include housing with special support, housing support, escorting, supported housing, HVB, emergency accommodation, eviction prevention measures, and the housing first team. We also manage budget and debt counseling.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a housing coordinator, you will be responsible, together with a colleague, for the eviction prevention work within social services. This role involves extensive collaboration with other actors within the municipality, such as social workers/case officers, as well as other stakeholders like landlords, the Enforcement Authority, healthcare, outpatient psychiatric care, LARO, and inpatient departments.

Your work will involve outreach to Borlänge residents who have rental debts and disturbances in their housing, working to build relationships, motivate, and guide them to other support services within the municipality and region. The role includes exercising authority and making decisions regarding financial assistance, social contracts, and brokerage authorizations.

You will participate in all evictions carried out within Borlänge municipality.

The target group you will work with consists of Borlänge residents facing housing issues, which means you will encounter individuals of all ages. This group often struggles with mental health issues and/or substance abuse, as well as other problems such as domestic violence, memory disorders, and criminality. It is not uncommon to encounter issues like unsanitary living conditions, hoarding problems, and pests.

In this position, you will also be responsible for the social contracts within the social administration, which includes receiving applications, investigating, and making decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements for the position include:

• Higher education, vocational education in the field, or high school education deemed suitable by the employer
• Case Management
• Co-occurring disorders
• MI training
• Excellent verbal and written skills in Swedish
• Driver's license (B)

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with exercising authority and knowledge of legislation such as the Social Services Act and the Tenancy Act, as well as being well-acquainted with the support services available within both the municipality and region, and knowing where to turn in specific cases.
• Experience working with the target group facing housing issues and having previously worked with eviction prevention measures, as well as being accustomed to handling complex cases.

Personal qualities:

To work as a housing coordinator, you must be fearless and confident in yourself, have an easy time building relationships, be non-judgmental, and be motivated to navigate complex cases.

You must be able to work independently and have the courage to make tough decisions.

You must also be able to collaborate with other actors who have different working methods and legislation to follow.
